I’m not crazy
I’m not crazy
But I don’t care what you think of me
I act the way that I do for a reason
I will stand up for what I believe in
I won’t let the ideas that you’ve tried to jam into my head affect my better judgment
I will not look at myself the way that you would look at me
In fact I will not even consider thinking of myself the way that you think of me
I understand that everyone can have their own opinion
But your opinion is wrong
You are not allowed to judge me in your prejudiced, judgmental, close minded thoughts
I do not care if you approve of me
It only reflects badly on yourself
And honestly I don’t want to hear it
You tell me I am vain because I like make up
You tell me that the only reason I dye my hair different colors is because I’m an “attention seeker”
You say my short skirt makes me a slut
I am 15
Do not call me a slut or tell me a look like a hooker
My short skirt is not a reflection of my morals
I should be able to wear whatever I want without being judged
You say that it will cause people to look at me
How is other people’s lack self-control, in any way, my fault
I am not the difference between the nice boy who offers me his jacket when I am cold and the one who stares at my ass when I walk by in the hallway
I cannot change the mindset of the boy who carries my books for me when I seem to have too many and the boy who tosses a pencil on the ground in front of me and asks me to pick it up for him just so he can watch me bend over
Not everyone has an ulterior motive
But us girls have learned to assume that they do
When a boy is nice to us we automatically assume that it’s and effort at seduction
I shouldn’t have to flinch every time a man walks past me and I am alone
I shouldn’t have to be afraid to walk around by myself
Do not tell me what you think of me
Because I do not care
Maybe I flinch but I will never fall
Hold your head high and smile at that stranger
Maybe you’ll even make their day
And when your father tells you that your skirt is too short, your lipstick to pigmented, and your eyeliner too dark
Hold your head high and rock that short skirt
When he calls you a slut
tell him not to use that word
And when all you get is a sarcastic reply
Rise above it
Don’t let them tell you that all you want is attention
Prove…
no actually you don’t have to prove anything
Because you know,
that all you want is a freedom to do what you please and not be judged for it
To not be held to a different standard
We should not have a different set of rules than men
You congratulate men for the same reason that you condemn a woman
So do not tell me what you think that I look like
Because what I look like is me
Don’t question how I identify myself
because I do not care what you think
So go ahead
judge me all you want
I won’t be listening
I’ll be stomping off in my short skirt & lipstick to go change the world
Because I’m not crazy
I just don’t care what you think
All these ideas
you’ve tried to jam into my head affect my better judgment
I will not look at myself the way that you would look at me
