Everyone on YouTube dreams about reaching that 1 millionth subscriber, but people may not know how to get there. The idea of success, in my opinion, is often misunderstood.

Success is not found in the number of subscribers you have but in the connection you have with them. I have found that YouTube is what you make of it, and that connection is necessary to grow your channel. There are multiple sides of YouTube, and I’m not simply talking about what one’s channel’s niche is. No, I’m talking about how people talk to their fans.

When someone is starting off her channel, every single subscriber and comment is so special because it’s a new experience. You are trying to expand your platform, and it feels good when people are invested in something you feel passionate about. It can be more difficult to continue to show that same amount of love back when your numbers start growing especially rapidly. It can also be difficult to remember to show love within your videos because, if you are vlogger, sometimes so much is going on and it just slips your mind.

I have just reached 1,500 subscribers, and just yesterday I had reached 1,400, meaning I gained 100 subscribers in a day. That being said, it can be difficult to respond to all of the people who show me so much love on my channel. However, this is the key to being successful on YouTube: regardless of the number, continue to cultivate your relationship with your viewers. People take time out of their days to watch what you’ve created, so it’s only right to acknowledge them and give credit where credit is due.

A channel’s subscribers are key, and responding to people and showing genuine gratitude is just the right thing to do. So, if you are trying to grow your channel, every person who interacts with you matters.

So above all of the fancy fonts and good camera angles, the most important thing you can do for your channel is to build a relationship with your followers.
