Around the world, “Black Panther” has been dominating in the box office, especially in the U.S. where the film has recently become the highest grossing superhero movie ever!
The film follows the Marvel character, T’Challa, the prince of Wakanda who is returning home to be crowned king after the murder of his father, King T’Chaka. The movie highlights the country of Wakanda, emphasizing their technological advancements, the embunce of Vibranium, which they use as their main power source, and the country’s impressive ability to hide their success from the rest of the world. In Wakanda, T’Challa must protect himself, his family, and his country from a ruthless new enemy that threatens to destroy the power of the black panther forever.
“Black Panther” also takes on the importance of black culture and the ancestral roots that run deep through Africa. Promoting black and female empowerment, the movie has moved audiences with its strong black superhero and the Wakandan female army that is not to be trifled with.
“I am so grateful to Marvel because about five years ago, my son asked me if there were any brown Legos. And I said, ‘Yes there are.’ And I got a Sharpie and I turned Spider-Man brown and I turned the Legos brown and I don’t have to turn them brown anymore,” said Sandra Bullock regarding the film. “Black Panther” sends a powerful message that no matter your race or sex you can be anyone you want to be to young audiences everywhere.
The “Black Panther” soundtrack made primarily by rapper, Kendrick Lamar, has also been widely recognized for its success. The track features great rap artists like The Weeknd, Khalid, 2 Chainz, and many more. Songs, “Pray For Me,” and “All The Stars” have received the most success, although the album as a whole is a complete work of art, perfect for the film.
As of right now, it is unclear whether or not “Black Panther” will be considered for Oscar nominations in the next year, although director Ryan Coogler is hoping they will be featured in the next award season.
“Black Panther” is a beautiful and heartfelt film that I recommend to everyone. The soundtrack is awesome and brings the entire film together while emphasizing the importance of diversity, ancestry, and loyalty.
