Happy July, grrls! In my humble opinion, the Fourth of July and the celebrations behind this “holiday” becomes a weirder concept as I grow older. As a straight white female in this country, I may not be the most oppressed individual, but as I channel in my empathy for others, I find it hard to celebrate freedom in this country. While curating this month’s playlist, I will admit I was in a rut as to how I was going to go about making a “freedom” playlist. While I am very particular about the flow and message behind playlists, this month’s freedom playlist is a little reflection of my confusion and indecisiveness. Intertwined in this playlist are songs reflecting the restless political state of this country, songs about personal freedom, and few personal favorites that allow me to free myself  from my own issues and dilemmas.
