I have recently been testing out a theory that my friend, George, introduced me to called the Law of Attraction. If you aren’t familiar with this practice, here’s an example. Let’s say you really want the motivation to do your best and get an A on a new project you have been assigned. Just simply think to yourself “I am going to do my best work on this project. I am going to get an A.” The idea is that putting this energy into yourself and the world will lead you to what you want. Simply put, just be positive and don’t tell yourself you cannot do something, because then your negative attitude will keep you from your best work. If nothing else, thinking you can’t do something makes you miserable. Give it a chance.

I watched an episode of The Office last night, and it was the one where Erin was still called Kelly. So the new boss would call “Kelly!” (for Erin) and Kelly Kapoor would wait outside the boss’s office, barge in when he called, and say “You wanted me?” She thought that if she put the idea in his mind that he wanted her that eventually he would actually want her. It’s actually pretty smart for getting people to do what you want.

I have always been a firm believer in the placebo effect. Sometimes products or certain practices that are supposed to help your mental state, may simply be working for the placebo effect of it. Which, honestly, doesn’t bother me that much. Whatever works!

It’s all about finding confidence in whatever way you can and if you’re lacking, the best thing you can do for yourself is fake it until you believe it.
